tl;dr:

We didn't want to make people feel like they had to get gold medals, so we changed the dungeon loot system.

Now we're adding ultra-rare drops to dungeons that you will receive 100% of the time if you complete them with a gold medal.

...
Happiness is when you play a game so well that people call you a hacker.

There are two types of people in the world, those who can extrapolate from incomplete information.

Single-use.  100% drop, but you personally only benefit from one.

That is how I understood it.

Also seems to imply you get one from STL OR KV, and one from SSM OR SC

People were quitting non Gold runs because they wouldn't get a specific piece of loot they were looking for. Generally, a single piece of loot, that once they had it, they were done. How is this different?

I'm not saying it's a bad idea. What I'm saying is: If the original loot situation was a fuck up, how is this not?

Yeah, I agree with you there.  Too many gimmicks.  Just bump the drops in group content and let the market sort it out imo.

Playing devil's advocate for this plan, it's better because these are one-use, non-tradable, partially dungeon-agnostic rewards. It's not something you're farming for exactly; once you've got it, you don't need to abandon any pug runs.

Yeah, that argument's pretty weaksauce. Only one drops (probably), and you're still going to have to /roll for it against the other guys in there. And it will still encourage some people to drop groups some of the time. But it's not as bad as farming for a 5% drop for an item with a 5% chance of having decent slots.
