They keep making damn good choices with this game.

Agreed, I like that local-server-only an option. I wish that they would shoot for the stars, though, instead of using such well-worn design choices. Games are moving away from realm-based systems with some real innovation coming out of TESO and WoW (of all places!). Distinct named realms are inviting disaster (mergers, closures, dead servers, APAC anything at all) unless you can actually get sustained population growth, and the time to prevent the problem is pre-launch.

I dont know.  FF XIV has re-ignited my love of server play.  Its nice hanging with the limsa crew.  Seeing people every day in town and grouping locally with people.  Earning a rep and watching people progress.  I think smaller tighter communities are always better.  I really hope housing doesnt shit all over the community feel.

Think of housing as an RC car.. sure there are a few days where you want to do nothing but play with it but not long after you'll forget it exists for a while.. that's how I feel about it at least.

That's how i felt about eq2 and Vanguard housing.... but i see wildstar and ffxiv housing more like eq2 guildhalls.  They are feature rich and offer little or no reason to leave and give you tons of reasons to stay.

We'll see.
