Building a new PC
« on: Jun 06, 2013, 06:01 PM »
I went for it. I'm the proud owner of an i7 4770k and a GTX770. I'm looking for suggestions on a good power supply with modular cables and a case, ideally ATX full-tower. I don't need flashy lights, and I don't need cheap plastic molding everywhere. Anyone have any thoughts?

This is what I use. I had a system get burned out a while back from a bad PSU and learned not to skimp on them. Silverstone makes good stuff and I've had mine under heavy use since I built it three years ago. I did 1500w because I was running two GTX 480's which were basically fusion reactors, ran hot and needed a lot of power. Regardless, this would be my recommendation.

For that system unless you plan on going SLI you don't need anywhere close to 1500W. Get something like this

and for a case...

I have this case for one of my computers and it is a beast! It is heavy though.

I did a bit of looking around case-wise and found this site, Mag:

Upon a little more initial research, it's looking like the Silverstone Fortress FF02 is one of the best cases out there for noise to airflow proportion.

Of course, I'm no expert and can't really help you since most of my cases usually tend to be mid ATX.
