Hey Spellslingers,

As a number of you all have requested, this is an update post regarding upcoming changes to the Spellslinger.

In the next patch (date TBD), we address the issue of the Spellslinger's insanely high burst and uncompetitive sustained DPS, while also diversifying its DPS builds. A few examples of these changes include:

·         Charged Shot T8 Bonus: Overall damage has increased, but applies over time.
·         Rapid Fire T4 Bonus: Previously the T8 Bonus, Rapid Fire reduces True Shot's cooldown. New T8 Bonus.
·         Flame Burst: Will be castable while casting.
·         Arcane Missiles: Will deal Damage instead of Distributed Damage. T4 Bonus: Restores 5 Spell Power on hit. New T8 Bonus. Becomes mobile at base.

Without getting too granular, expect some major changes to Ignite and True Shot as well. Keep an eye out for PTR patch notes for the specifics.

Healslingers - you have not been forgotten. As mentioned before, we are focused on improving the Support spec, however most of those changes will come in the later future. Our immediate goals were to ensure that the existing design is functioning as intended. Charge abilities and cooldown issue fixes are gradually being patched into Live. Apparently, a Vitality Burst T5 bug has existed for 5+ weeks now, and that is unacceptable.

For the next patch, do expect the following changes:

·         Runic Healing: Overall healing has increased. T8 Bonus: Will grant the T4 Defense to the additional target as well.
·         Vitality Burst T5: If Surged, cast time will be properly reduced to 1.3s.

Simply put, Runic Healing was under-tuned, and will be receiving a significant buff. Future changes will include revisions to Regenerative Pulse and the AMPs - Savior and Holy Roller. Our greater goal for the Support spec is to diversify builds and create more interesting choices for players. The scope of support spec changes includes revisions to the AMP tree as well.

I appreciate all the feedback you all have been posting. Whether it’s feedback, bugs, frustrations, ideas, or likes/dislikes, it’s all useful information one way or another.

Thanks for reading,
Tranagram

Good catch - I neglected to mention in the original write-up: Arcane Missiles is mobile at base now.

I wish they'd done more on the healslinger side, but I will take my buffed runic healing without complaint!

Honestly, if they just fix the bugs with some of our current abilities, and some of the ones causing higher than intended focus drain, we will be in a great place.  More throughput on runic healing is just icing on the cake.  We may actually be competitive for best tank heal depending on how much of a buff it receives.  We just have to be patient, it looks like we will be rewarded pretty well eventually.

Ever since esper got much more mobile and we kinda lost our mobility niche, I've been hoping for some kinda update that'll give us a new one. I really enjoy tank healing in games so I'd be quite pleased if they make runic strong enough for that. ^u^

aren't most of the focus drains intentional though? Or are there things draining focus besides these from these old, old patch notes? https://forums.wildstar-online.com/forums/index.php?/topic/93627-healslinger-abilities-and-focus/#entry951022

Yes, the glitches with some charged heals taking the full charged focus cost when doing lesser charges on them.  Mostly Vitality Burst but I feel like the recent update maybe added it to sustain as well when they tinkered with "fixing" charged abilities.  I was burning through a lot more focus last night compared to any other time we have raided doing the same things on the same bosses.  It's only an issue on the longest of fights, but I really can't wait until they clean all this up. We have had bugs linger longer than any other class, and as the weakest healer right now that is just unacceptable.  That is why they say they want to fix things before tinkering too much, if things were all working as intended we would be decently competitive with the other classes, as opposed to the current status quo.  We are at risk of being buffed to far honestly, not that I would ever complain!

Well that sucks, I been kinda just writing it off as that focus drain debuff. We already have more trouble with focus than the other healers, it super sucks to find we're bugged to be even worse off! D8
On wednesday night raid, Ratio was in our mumble and said, basically, 'if you have only medics and espers in your raid you can do phage maw with 4 healers, if you have a spellslinger then you need at least 5'. Made me sad inside!
Nice of them to at least mention the length of time we've been bugged is unacceptable. Now if only they'd do something about it.

They had kind of hinted at big healslinger changes in the previous slinger update post, so I am disappointed that most of these fixes were for DPS and we got put off again. Though I'm excited by the idea that at least runic healing may actually be an effective heal after this. ^u^ !

People discussing the still-unposted spellslinger PTR updates. Here's the update for healing.

Runic Healing seems like its the only support spells thats been effected:

No casttime change, no focus change.

Runic Healing have been buffed by 75% on its stationary healing position.

Runic Healing have been buffed by 25% on its moving healing position.

Surged Runic Healing have been buffed by 81% on its stationary healing position.

Surged Runic Healing have been buffed by 25% on its moving healing position.

The diffrence in healing between stationary and moving have been reduced from 53% to ~9%.

The diffrence in healing between surged stationary and surged moving have been reduced from 33% to 6%

This means a total overall buff for Runic Healing, and a smaller diffrence in healing between if your runing or staying still. So much less penalty from running and healing with this spell now.
