Apparently, it's the year of mech games. Hawken:

Happiness is when you play a game so well that people call you a hacker.

Here are my first impressions after putting about 10 hours into the game.

FUN! Playing a mech style shooter is a ton of fun, and the artistic style is very urban jungle warfare.

Immersion is great, there is no UI so to speak, but they integrate it very well into your view of the cockpit of your mech. several distinct classes which all feel viable.

The general feel of the game is very fluid, and easy to get in/out of.

The customization options of the mechs reminds me a lot of the original Front Mission game for the snes if any of you have played that.

The biggest problem I see is the game not automatically matching you with people of equal level. I was getting destroyed by people with a gazillion upgrades in my very first game. I hope they will introduce some kind of tiered system of game matching before it goes live.
