CitizenCon was last night and we got some interesting stuff. Another ship trailer for the Drake Cutlass.



A look at one of the first missions of the single player campaign revolving around the Shubin Mining Complex



Finally what is probably the most exciting and interesting bit of all, the first look at what gameplay is really going to be like. All of these videos are rendered in-engine but this is actual game play of a planet landing and it will be like on planets.

In addition to the 60 some million raised by crowdfunding, in a recent article in PC Gamer, CIG is said to be investing 100 million dollars of its own money into this project. Soooo...Chris Roberts was worth a bit more eh?

Ok, been a while since I dropped some updates in here:

First and foremost, the Imagine trailer from several months ago:



Secondly there was a huge leak of CIG Assets and so a lot of sneak peaks are available. Here is a video detailing the updated Bengal Carrier. Please remember this is pre alpha WIP. Also it is 1 KM long.

Meh, i'd like to see it get made, even if it doesn't live up to the hype, it would probably be worth playing a little.  always sucks when these amazing IP's fail to even get off the ground.  I'd still love to see what 38 studios had made... that game sounded amazing and had such good talent involved.

Ok, so the story is basically this. We were supposed to have the FPS module by now. It was demo'd towards the end of March/April, and was supposed to be out. CIG decided to hold off on releasing it because the stock Crytek netcode is shit. Instead of releasing something that wasn't going to be a good experience, CIG decided to "delay indefinitely" the FPS module while it rewrites the entire network code. That's when this Derek Smart guy crawls out of the woodwork. That vitriolic blog post you're citing is written by him. He's nothing but a troll who releases independent games (that are shit, seriously look at his lineup on Steam, they're fucking terrible) and he's mad because he has no vision, or no chops to make Star Citizen. He got up on his little shitty "I am Derek Smart" soapbox on the Something Awful forums and was shit on over there, but he keeps posting. He garnered enough attention CIG refunded his money so he has nothing left to complain about. He claims he's going to sue etc etc.

Bottom line. The game is the most ambitious title ever created. Nobody has tried to do it before. CIG continuously opens its doors to show the community what is going on, and is continuously up front. Expecting something this ambitious right out the door? Not likely. The problem with crowdfunding is you ask and announce up front, then deliver in a couple of years, whereas traditional development you build your game for a couple of years, then announce.

At the end of the day, this is the game I've waited for for 15 years. I pledged the idea of it, I knew what I was doing. No regrets. As far as Derek Smart and his bullshit, lets take a look:
